ABOUT
The Adaptive Music Collective (AMC) was founded in March 2025 to create music-making opportunities for people with disabilities.
The AMC's short-term goal is to purchase & learn the Soundbeam 6. Starting with a pilot program of 1:1 sessions, we will provide opportunities for students to make music with the Soundbeam. During these sessions, we will develop individual sound profiles - guiding students in exploring, creating & personalizing their musical voice with the Soundbeam sensors, triggers & sound sets. All sessions will be cost-free for participants.
Building on the pilot program, our mid-term goal is to incorporate local professional musicians and master teachers in small-group music-making sessions. Imagine our AMC musicians playing the Soundbeam alongside a trio of professional musicians playing other instruments (ie. clarinet, trumpet & percussion). The 1:1 sessions continue during this stage serving as core instruction and skill development with the Soundbeam. All sessions will be cost-free for participants.
AMC's long-term goal is to create an AMC Ensemble - an inclusive band. The collective will be comprised of musicians of all ages and abilities with adaptive instruments at the heart of the ensemble. Operating together, our 1:1 lessons, small-group sessions, and the large ensemble will make up the Adaptive Music Collective. All sessions will be cost-free for participants.
